  1. I would make a scarf -- we had our first major snow today, and my neck is cold!

  2. Oh, that would be lovely as a shawl - just in the order as you've got it - a beautiful gradient of natural color. I just bought a pattern yesterday that would be perfect for this.

  4. socks. I'd make a few lovely pairs of sturdy, but sweet socks. And then a set of gloves to match!

  5. That is so generous. I'd make scarves and hats for my sister and her husband-to-be... I've been dreaming of reversible cables in a neutral/natural color for the scarves and something simple with a small tad of colorwork for the hats. This yarn would be perfect!

  6. First things first: GORGEOUS! And such a large amount of yarn, Thank You so much for this wonderful giveaway.

These natural shades are so pure and beautiful, I'd like to feature them in a wrap or lap-robe similar to a Shadow Box quilt pattern. It would be so warm and comfy, as well as lovely, and just right for Mom's livingroom!

  7. Ohhhh... that is so beautiful. I'm honestly not sure what I would make. One thing for sure would be a display on the yarn itself... what exactly it is and what a treasure it is. Probably would do some sort of cowl too.

  8. What oddments! 300 grams will make at least 6 smoke rings and I could blend the natural shades a bit. I have 6 friends with cold necks who need presents for next Christmas... My daughter loves her smoke ring made with multicolor Arctic Hand. I was able to adapt the pattern in the Arctic Lace book. Smoke rings are so easy to wear and don't get in the way like scarves can.

  9. Such beautiful colours.
I can see several projects for this yarn starting with a pair of Knotty gloves and a simple cowl. The rest I would use for the Calvin's Hats projects. You can read about this charity group on Ravelry. Such a special yarn would be perfect for such special angels.

    Red, blue, purple...

  11. Knee high socks, definitely knee high socks. I always have cold feet at home, therefore I wear my own homemade socks with extra thick soles (yarn held double). I have four pairs of those, but not yet in grey. Speaking of grey: I am all grey today in my grey sweater and skirt so that would be the icing on the cake won't it?!

Have a nice weekend, all! Ciao, Fleur (Fleurtje-Eliza on Ravelry)

  12. That would make a whole bunch of scarves! But I would want to try a nice warm wrap too. Thanks for the opportunity!

  13. The colour is beautiful. I have promised my daughter kilt hose. This yarn would create a gorgeous exotic pair. 80D

  14. My first thought was socks although that might be because it's freezing here & that yarn looks cozy!

  16. Winter has arrived in Winnipeg as well this week. I would absolutely make a shawl style neck warmer for my sister who's been going through a rough patch recently. I like the idea of being able to use the shawl for more than one use.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I would make a fun little sweater, thats what I would do!

  18. Mmmmm.... a beautiful combination of neutrals. I most definitely see a shawl, either like what Lindr mentioned, creating a gradient OR I have really been into combining a range of yarns together, different weights and it creates a lovely effect. What a very generous and luxurious prize Lorraine!!!

  19. Oh my! What a wonderful and generous giveaway! I would make several headbands. One for myself and give the others away to my friends. Some of them have a very long walk, especially in the winter, to their jobs. Should I have any leftover yarn after my project, I am going to send it along with my other yarns to my girlfriend, who has been crocheting squares from collected left over yarn for the past year to make a large piece. She won't let anyone see it until it's finished. Everyone can't wait, she is really artistic with her pieces.

  20. It would be a perfect evening shawl on an Alaskan cruise with a guy friend that I reconnected with on facebook.

  21. I would knit a shawl. This is beautiful yarn.

  22. another vote for a shawl - what a fabulous project this would be in a triangular shawl going from dark at the tip to light at the top.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm pretty sure I'd use this for a scarf or shawl, since that would last so much longer than socks or gloves (I tend to be hard on socks and gloves, although an especially pretty pair of gloves would not be out of the question). I'm not sure whether I'd go for something delicate and lacy or whether I'd stick to something really simple like a Baktus so the focus stays on the yarn.

  24. I would make a shrug or shawl. Beautiful giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think I'd like to try my hand at a real lacy shawl. Maybe one of the EZ 100s, with some wristwarmers to go with it. It's snowing here today, so something really warm and cozy and comforting to nestle in would be most welcome!

    Lovely, lovely yarns. :)

  26. The question is "What wouldn't I make?" What a generous giveaway! I'd start with a pair of mittens- long ones to reach up to my elbows. Then a smoke ring would probably be in order. With our temps holding steady at -35F, anything to add a bit of warmth and/or luxury is quite appealing. Thanks for the bit of fun!

  27. My choice would also be for a shawl in a lace pattern, gradually moving from the darker to the lighter shades. In shape similar to your Artic Waves shawl, but a little bit longer - just in time for spring. Thanks for letting us imagine what we could make on a wintery day like this.

  28. I would make a winter hat (a beanie) and a matching scarf. They'd be so warm!

  30. Hello from Ontario, Canada! I can't say at the moment what I would make from this lovely fibre...perhaps a scarf. What I can tell you is that I am the lucky & quite happy owner of 2 new looms... a 16" custom made table loom and a 60" Leclerc Mira floor loom... I'm sure I will think of something to WEAVE with this lovely yarn! Thank you!

  46. Firstly I just want to tell you that a couple of years ago I bought a quiviut smokering from you, and I love it soooo much that if something happens to me I actually have it written down who gets it. Thats how wonderful I think it is, that I woud like it to go to someone who would appreciate just how fantastic, warm and incredibly soft it is. I live in northern Sk. and I wear it everyday in the winter. I also bought a small scarf for my friend who wears hers everyday. Now, on to the contest. There is an older lady in my town who has offered to help me knit, although it would be too tricky for me to try on my own, luckily I have help. I adore the beautiful lacy fingerless gloves that I see on your site and would have her help me with those. On the other hand, a hat would be nice too. No, I think the gloves, I cant think of anything more luxurious.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Oh that's glorious. I've been chilly all winter and thinking of a little vest made from a qiviut/merino blend!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'm sure I could get a 1940's style fairisle sweater out of that! maybe if I added some brown shetland wool in for the waist band and cuffs, just the thing for the dreary Scottish weather:)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yes, me too, definitely a shawl. A large, probably semi-circle I'm thinking.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Such beautiful yarn! I'd love to make some fingerless mitts and a hat for myself, and some lovely socks for my two grandbabies! :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oh! What a delight to come across your yarn giveaway while searching for some Qiviut. I'd be making myself a buttoned-up intarsia vest with those lush skeins. Our climate here in Australia is not as harsh as yours but our coastal winters + my middle-aged frame have me wearing too many layers, so I've been knitting up some trendy vests to minimize the layering. Just imagine! a layer with Qiviut might mean I couldn't go back to anything else ever.
And any yarn left over would definitely become ear-covering head bands for family.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I would make bed socks for my parents, who are always cold in the winter and then mittens or more probably gloves (fairisle) for my daughters and as many of my 14 nieces and nephews as this stretched to (it's my Christmas tradition to make something knitted for each of them).

    ReplyDelete
  53. These look so beautiful, and I can only imagine how lovely they'd be knitted up! I'd make armwarmers with a twining leaf-and-stem motif, and then a open lacework shawl. :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. I would make a Thinking of you scarf for a very special friend. It's a pattern developed recently with three knitted hearts down one end. Thank you for opportunity to win some of your wonderful yarn!

  55. I would make Cowl's or Neck warmers and donate them to our own Nome's Relay for life to give to pt who are currently receiving cancer treatment.
