100% pure Magical Qiviut Bobbin ends.....LUSH !
Finally got most of our Christmas RUSH orders sent off, been making lots of pure qiviut sweaters in the light worsted weight 3ply Magical Qiviut...... I tried one of the sweaters on. They are VERY SOFT BUT VERY' VERY WARM, TOO WARM FOR ME !
I may have more time to work on the blogs & finally make some items for myself !
This month its more mill ends. This lush lot (shown at the top of the page) is mostly 2 ply lace weight yarn in their Natural state
but i could hand dye them for whoever should win to any of these colours below:
Colours are (Clockwise) Bordeaux, Burnt Orange, Raven Black, Arctic Red, Slate blue, Arctic cherry, Turquoise green, Arctic Blue, Purple, Turquoise.
Now because the yarns are from several batches there will be a shade difference in the finished dyed yarn, some will be dark & some will be a lighter shade ! To enlarge any image just click on it.
To enter the December giveaway tell me what you would knit with the yarn & What colour you would choose - Natural as they are or hand dyed !
Hello, Lorraine! Greetings from Lennoxville. I would love to knit a lace shrug, something warm but delicate, to pull on over a strapless or shortsleeved dress. I can just feel it now!
ReplyDeleteI'm finally making something in qiviut that my fiancé bought me as a gift but it's not really enough for the shawl size I'd like to make. I'm one repeat into the Almost Autumn shawl by Boo Knits, and I would love to finish its edge with some of your qiviut in purple.
ReplyDeleteSeeing how there is more there than just the later part of a shawl, I'd make a fingerless glove maybe Swan Maiden Mitts with more finger cover so my hands stay warm at work. And/Or I would make a cowl maybe Ice Queen with beads for a knitting friend.
I would knit a winter set... hat, cowl and if there is enough mitts.
ReplyDeleteI would knit a winter hat. I am hoping to take a sock knitting class soon because that's my REAL goal, but a winter had would be a good start for winter. I'd choose the natural. :)
ReplyDeleteI would make the winter bloom lace shawl by Kourtney Robinson in the slate blue.
ReplyDeleteI would love the purple and I would make a couple pieces from the Mirri collection hat/cowl/fingerless gloves. Whatever the yardage allowed!
ReplyDeleteI would make a shawl for my neck. I have so many pains when it is cold, because of arhtritis. I would love the arctic red
ReplyDeleteDeciding on a color would be hard -- they are all lovely! But I think I'd go with the natural or the purple.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to knit this up into a long, shallow, crescent-shaped shawl -- lots of dramatic lace to drape or wrap around and around on really cold days.
I would knit something for my husband in natural or something darker (grey/black); he would love a hat and some mittens--and it's his birthday soon :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to knit a lacy shawl - the pattern would depend on the yardage. And bordeaux would be the color for me. Thanks again for another fabulous giveaway, and good luck everyone!
ReplyDeleteI'd knit a lacy shawl and maybe a pair of wristwarmers if there's enough yarn. I just love the Turquoise green color!
ReplyDeleteHi There, you won the Shetland smokering from the shetland blog giveaway for October & November....please contact me with your details♥
DeleteI only knit for charity - mostly chemo hats. What head wouldn't love a warm and soft covering. Natural or any of the colors would be lovely if you have your dye pot going. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!!
DeleteI would knit gloves for friend in hospital. Natural. Beautiful yarn.
ReplyDeleteI think turquoise green would make a lovely Riverine Scarf. Its my favorite go to pattern for gifts right now.
ReplyDeleteI would go for the lovely purple, and use it to make arm length mittens for my daughter who is always cold at night, and is sensitive to wool. The laceweight would take a while, but she is worth it!
ReplyDeleteI would knit a warm, cozy, squishy awesome cowl. It gets so cold in the prairies here, this would help me survive the winter. Color? purple!
ReplyDeleteI'd made a lacy scarf/stole in the natural color. Something I could wrap around my neck and shoulders and rub my cheek on now and then.
ReplyDeleteHi There,
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat..!!!
I would love to make warm and snuggly scarfs for the elderly members of our family. Their favorite color is purple.
Thank you..!!
Lizzi
I would love to knit a hat out of the color Bordeaux. I knitted a pair of mittens out of the angora /qiviut blend purchased from qiviut queen. I love them.
ReplyDeleteThe hat would be a wonderful addition to my mittens
I would love to knit a wrap.... and if there's any yarn left over, some fingerless mitts (because my fingers are so very cold while I type this!)
ReplyDeleteI love both Arctic Blue and Natural... so hard to choose!
Thanks for the chance!
I think I need a new hat. Natural, to dye it myself with mushrooms.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to knit your lacy smokering pattern in black or bordeaux for myself - right after I knit 3 qiviut/merino arctic beanies for the men in my life...ok, maybe I'll knit the smokering first...lol
ReplyDeleteI love the burnt orange. Perfect for a winter's sweater vest.
ReplyDeleteI would make a hat/ mittens set! With half of the yarn kept in natural and half dyed in the turquoise color to get a stripped pattern :)
ReplyDeleteI'd go with the Arctic Blue, and crochet a shawl and amazingly cozy fingerless mitts!
ReplyDeleteMitts and a headband for my daughter who's feeling the cold in Sweden
ReplyDeleteA hat ! i would prefer ...
ReplyDeletethank you for the giveaway
I like the purple one
I would love to have mill ends in natural! I've been working on an advent shawl/scarf pattern and the qiviut would be absolutely fabulous in a lace pattern. There are some wonderful advent calendar patterns designed by Susann Hajjar (Unikatissima). I like the Lace Christmas Rose that she designed for 2010 (that would be the one I would use for the mill ends) and I'm presently working on this year's advent pattern using some natural cream alpaca I bought from a local rancher. Her 2011 pattern (Lace Holly) can be a scarf, shawl or shrug. Gorgeous! I love working with the natural yarns. Check out Susann's beautiful lace patterns on Ravelry.
ReplyDeleteI would love to knit the new Kaihola shawl on Ravelry. Is beautiful and would be stunning in Arctic Blue.
ReplyDeletepatmom on Ravelry
If there is enough yardage, I'd love to knit the Morvarch Shawl by Lucy Hague in Slate Blue. I think lace weight cables would be amazing in qiviut. Otherwise, I think the Eiregal Shawl by Romi Hill would be stunning. It's light and ethereal and would be a hug around my neck everytime I wore it.
ReplyDeletethe sweater you knit is beautiful and does look very warm! i LOVE the natural color and would make a shawl for my daughter to keep warm while she nurses her new baby. {my new granddaughter!!}
ReplyDeleteAll of the colors are gorgeous! I think I would leave it natural if I won though. I would love to knit a shawl, probably one of the patterns from Boo Knits.
ReplyDeleteI'd knit a hat for me to match my cowl, or maybe something to keep the hubs warm while hunting. Either way I'd post it on ravelry.
ReplyDeleteI'm just excited as get out to even get a chance win some of this lovely fiber. I've never even seen it or felt it. But if I win I would love to make maybe a cowl or a pair of fingerless gloves or maybe a baby hat for my new granddaughter. Thanks for having this giveaway
ReplyDeleteI forgot to add what color I think maybe the natural color brown? Or whatever it is.thanks again
ReplyDeleteI would be happy enough to just be able to knit this lovely yarn so much so what ever colour I was lucky enough to have in my hands I would be pleased as punch. I would knit a shawl to replace my silk scarf I have over my shoulders (it's all about keeping the neck and shoulders warm!).
ReplyDeleteI love the natural colour of qiviut and think it would make the most exquisite cowl, though I have always said I would love a pair of socks ... never to be walked it of course but to simply wear (after a fresh pedi) while sitting in a comfy chair near the fire and knitting.
ReplyDeleteI would love to knit a lace scarf in the natural colour.
ReplyDeleteOh, the natural color is so lovely but that arctic blue is just calling my name! A light, lacy shawl in that would be so wonderful.
ReplyDeleteoh, with lace weight I would make shawls! In a mix of natural and teal or red! Beautiful yarn! :)
ReplyDeleteOooh, a lovely natural-colored smoke ring would be the perfect project for this yarn! It would be both warm and luxurious, a rare combo!
ReplyDeleteI would keep the Natural colors and make a couple of cowls. Thank you for sharing. Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI would knit a cowl with the yarn doubled up using a cable pattern and a shawl or scarf in Arctic Cherry. Ps: qiviut is wonderful to knit using rosewood needles.
ReplyDeleteI would like to knit a vest with cables. I'm cold and it's just the beginning of winter.
ReplyDeleteI would knit a cover/blanket for my baby carrier. Something to keep my little one warm on our walks during the damp maritime winters.
ReplyDeleteI would crochet a honeycomb cowl for my Mom in artic cherry. The yarn would keep her warm and the color would brighten her day!
ReplyDeleteI have a great pattern for a key hole scarf that is perfect for making with muskox yarn. I have one now and get so many compliments on it. I'm going to start making them in a variety of colours to give away next Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHello Kelli, your name was drawn, you are our winner !

ReplyDeleteI would knit a smokering for my sister in slate blue or black. I have some natural qiviut I brought home from Alaska and it's awesome.
ReplyDeleteSwoon!
ReplyDeleteI was recently gifted my first skein of Qiviut - what an amazing gift. Would love the opportunity to knit with this amazing fiber again. Something snuggly for around my neck to keep the draft out of my winter coat. Or a cardigan to keep my toasty. Most any colour would be gorgeous! Seriously amazing. Though natural or Turquoise green or Raven black would be remarkable.Thank you!
I think I'd go for a triangular shawl in Turquoise green.

ReplyDeleteIt will keep the back and shoulders nice and warm.
Oh how I would love to try weaving scarves with this lovely yarn! And then try to learn to knit socks with the thrums. I'd probably want a blue-green color, but they all look lovely.
ReplyDeleteI would have someone with good knitting skills make mittens and a hat for my wife to keep worm walking the dogs at work. The color should be turquoise green or natrual.
ReplyDeleteMy Aunt has asked that I knit her a scarf(maybe a shawl if I had lots of yarn). She would be over the moon if it was made of qiviut! Slate blue please.
ReplyDeleteA la Natural! For an earthy scarf :-)
ReplyDeleteNatural of course. Held double and paired with cream cashmere in a pair of fair isle mittens.
ReplyDeleteRed Boudreaux shawl
ReplyDeleteOK I have to enter this giveaway too!!!! I have never had anything Qiviut. I am a long time crocheter, but am just learning how to knit. I think I would make a scarf or cowl. I LOVE the Burnt Orange.
