Mill ends giveaway for April 2016

Just a quick entry for this month as I'm rushing around with lambing chores & getting lots of fibre & yarns ready for the Toronto Knitters Frolic on the 30th April ......Yikes its soon !

This is a lovely little lot of mill ends, all 100% Qiviut & mostly 2 ply lace weight.

Weighs 97 grams with about 700 yards & all in their Natural state.

To enter simply tell me what you would knit with this little lot. Please include the name of the pattern & the name of the designer so if others want to knit the pattern they can easily find it online......thank you & best of Luck to you all !

Runs from April 3rd TO April 30th 2016

Winner will be announced when i return from the Toronto show (about the 2nd May)

***Ruanna Update*** last months winner was Teri with her entry of ''Highland Tundra'
The blog post in May will contain updates of the Ruanna (knitting may even be finished) so far i have two front panels half way done. and have changed my mind about the pockets being knit from Highland Tundra, i will knit the pockets in the Shetland Tundra yarn & use the Highland Tundra for the collar......more luxurious I'm thinking !

I suspect that it would work out for the slightly lesser yardage by going down a needle size.

  2. I would love to knit the Ochre Leaves Cowl by Hannicraft (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ochre-leaves-cowl). I would make it wider if the yardage allows- I think the natural "halo" of the qiviut would look lovely with this pattern!

  3. After giving all the scarves I've given away, I'd like to make myself a scarf with it. The Twilight Mist Scarf by Alla Saenko (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/twilight-mist-scarf) is the pattern I would pick.

  5. For the cold and damp Nova Scotia winters, I think I'd like to knit the Soft Scarf Cowl! The loft and airiness would compliment the qiviut very nicely I think. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/soft-scarf-cowl

  20. My aim at the moment is to knit beautiful scarves and neck warmers as heirloom pieces for my grandchildren to appreciate in the future and remember me when they wear them . I would use the church bells pattern fromArtic Lace patterns for the boys and Snowflake panels in the girls.

  21. I've sent my entry to noreply@blogger.com on 29th at 20356! oh no! Hope I'm not too late to enter!
I'd knit Lilli Pilli by Ambrah O'Brian. I'd use Jamieson & Jamieson 2ply Shetland wool in oo1 and 132 or 1280 as contrast colours. For my daughter in Berlin where they have proper winters! Not like here in Wales, UK.
Do you already know about Shetland Wool week at the end of September? Over on the island itself www.shetland.org/things/events/culture-heritage/wool-week/

    1. Yes i know about the Shetland wool week but have never had the time to go, at that time of year we are swamped with yarn & knitwear orders. If you win,i hope you don't use that itchy Shetland wool. I tried their yarn in the past & its so scratchy-it would be sacrilege to pair that with pure soft Qiviut yarn !

  22. Don't worry! I've used Jamieson & Jamieson for years. It's very soft & warm, hard-wearing, but no scratchiness at all! And wonderful palette for colourway knitting, whether it's a full-blown jumper or hat/gloves. When I was in school in 1970s we avoided Shetland wool as it was scratchy but not these days.
