I have not been to a fiber show, but I visit the fiber booths at my local farmers' markets, and I lead a Prayer Shawl group of ladies where we talk about 'fiber finds'. I hope that's close enough! :)
ReplyDeleteI went to MD Sheep and Wool Festival and Homespun Yarn Party. I LOVE fiber festivals and wish I was able to go to more!
ReplyDeleteI went to my first fiber fair last month, Midwest Folk and Fiber. I very much want to go to Stitches Midwest, alas I don't have the time/money combination.
ReplyDeleteI was amazed at how much I learned at the fair, what types of fibers there were and how they spun and knit differently. It was awesome.
FYI, blogger seems to be having a lot of trouble with openid. I had to try several times to get this to work.
Hello, you are winner of lot #1. Thanks for taking part !
DeleteI haven't been to any fiber shows, but use the internet a great deal to gape at lovely yarn.

I've never been to a fiber show, tho it sounds fantastic! Would it count that while I was in Scotland I visited with every person I could that worked with the wonderful Scottish wools... including a Harris Tweed weaver?
ReplyDeleteRhinebeck! My third year, and I love it. Hope I get to go every year forever!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, we have very few fiber shows in my neck of the woods. I try to take my kids to the Puyallup Fair each fall, where they have a mini version of a fiber show. I enjoy seeing the different fleeces from the various breeds of sheep. Good luck with the new sheep, I'm sure they will be fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa and best of luck with your entry !
DeleteThe Australian Sheep and Wool Show has just finished down under. Some great exhibits including the contribution of the "Women of Wool" group - have a looky at http://www.womenofwool.com.au
DeleteOn my home front my most recent fiber encounter has been trying to spin up our neighbours cocker spaniel's hair! The owner wants a beanie - all well and good but the doggy was very smelly!
Cookie - Austinmer, Australia
I went to Woolfest in Cockermouth, England this summer. The best day of our England-week!
ReplyDeleteBarbro in Sweden
Wow, rabbit yarn ---> that sounds spectacular! Nope, no shows for me, as you probably will understand because of my situation. Or if you don't, check www.BlueMarkForME.com to see why.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I did visit a yearly party by the knitting club here in town. It has been two years since my last visit to the club for a regular coming together and have a cup of tea. This party I am talking about is a sort of one-woman-show of a lady that sells her hand spun and dyed stuff to the other members. I love the things she done with it and treated myself to some sparkly purple skeins.
But no rabbit so far, so that would be very very nice ;-)
Have a nice day, all! Ciao, Fleur (Fleurtje-Eliza on Ravelry)
How I would love to go to a fiber show! All I can say i that last month I visited my first yarn store-- Just for Ewe in Marblehead OH. I such a knitting noob! Thanks for the chance :-)
ReplyDeleteAllegan! It is really Michigan Fiber Fest. But everyone just says Allegan! I will be looking for a black shetland fleece this year to round out my shetland colors. I always spend too much money and later wish I had bought something I saw.
ReplyDeleteI wish you great sucess with your new little sheep. Do I sense a wedding ring shawl in the making?
Maggie
Hi Maggie, Thanks for the well wishes for our little flock....they are so cute. We purchased 6 lambs so far and 2 adult ewes. One of the lambs is jet black i just hope she stays very dark ! A wedding shawl sounds like fun possibly later as i purchased a solid white ram lamb due to arrive in september....best of luvk with your entry.
DeleteI was at Fibre Week at Olds College in Olds, Alberta. It was great fun and I learned a lot!
ReplyDeleteHello Julie, you are winner of lot#2. Thanks for taking part !
DeleteSad to say that we do not have any fibre/craft shows here in our country....crafting is rare and those of us who enjoy crafting are are indeed a rare breed. I am lucky for I belong to a great group of crafters from all over the world and we aspire to keep knitting/crochet/tatting/paper craft/quilting alive for as long as possible. Thanks for the giveaway.

ReplyDeleteAfter many years of missing it, I finally got to attend the Maine Fiber Frolic in Unity, Maine, and it poured down rain! I went with a friend and we had a great time, and with the rain we practically had the place to ourselves. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHello, you are winner of lot # 3. Thanks for taking part !
DeleteIn April, I went to the Wisconsin Spin-In in Waukesha. A smaller festival, but it's such fun to talk to the vendors and pick up fiber and yarn from the producers. I got some angora fiber(and pet the bunnies!), some corn silk yarn, some alpaca roving, some hand-dyed merino roving. Some I've used, some I gave away for swap, some is still waiting. It's great to have choices!
ReplyDeleteThis weekend is Stitches Midwest - still undecided if I want to drive to that and in September I'll go to Wisconsin Sheep & Wool in Jefferson.
Your prizes look lovely! Thanks for the giveaway!
I was lucky enough to attend the Estes Park (Colorado) Wool Market/Festival in June. Thankfully, I was there on 9 June, just as the High Park fire was starting; I don't think seeing the flames and breathing in all that smoke on the 10th would have been much fun. I know it certainly wasn't for the folks who live(d) there.
ReplyDeleteI also have not been to a fiber show, because I don't have the money, but I would love to go to the Estes Park one :) Someday......

I would love to go to a fiber show but unfortunately never went to any. calypsoonly(at)gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI met my first Fiber Festival at the Michigan Fiber Festival in Allegan just this week! I was in love and in awe. There was so-o much to see...and Oh what I could do! I got a wonderful bag of natural alpaca and a small table top loom to try my hand at weaving, as I am a spinner and love fiber. I plan on using what I spin to weave. I love what fiber can do. Have been gathering quite a variety of all kinds of roving from everywhere as we travel to make our living, just having a hard time finding time to do all that I want to! Can't wait until winter when we slow down a bit! Thank you for your blog and web site! I am so happy to find it!
ReplyDeletetravelingterry@gypsyjournal.net
I attended my first festival this year...Michigan Fiber Festival in Allegan last week. I took workshops for 3 days with one day on spinning and two on weaving. Plan on going back next year as well with my sister(s).
ReplyDeleteJoy...Berrien Center, MI
I am a knitter and a spinner and attended the Olds College Fibre Week for my third year in a row as well as the Hand Weavers Spinners and Dyers of Alberta Conference. I have some qiviut roving at home that I am saving for the right inspiration to make something out of, but it is my favourite fibre. I have a stuffed musk ox on my desk in my office to touch and remind me of my true passion, luxury fibre. I came across the blog while looking for yarn to buy to make a new hat and scarf for myself out of a qiviut or qiviut blend for this winter.
ReplyDeleteI just attended the Twist Festival and had a great time. It was nice to see more local fibre (including Cottage Craft).
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely to meet you yesterday at the Twist Festival. I bought my first but definitely not my last Qiviut. It was the highlight of my day.
ReplyDeleteHello, you are winner of lot #4. Thanks for taking part !
DeleteI love to knit but never attended any yarn Festival. They are usually far away from where I live.
ReplyDeleteJ'étais au Festival Twist et j'ai eu la chance de déjeuner en votre compagnie au B&B GilAnn dimanche matin. Mes deux balles de Decadent Yarn ont rendu plusieurs de mes copies folles de jalousie !
ReplyDeleteI am in Australia, and was lucky enough to receive a beautiful gift of a skein of Qiviut Tundra Blend. I attended the Adelaide Royal Show, in September 2011, and will be attending it again next month in the hope of purchasing some more wonderful Alpaca yarn. I am not sure if there are any dedicated yarn shows in my part of Australia
ReplyDeleteHello! I attended Twist this past weekend, my first fiber show and I am totally enthralled by everything. Saw you too, great display, very busy!
ReplyDeleteI got so many ideas and great advice it was well worth it and I can't wait for the next one.I especially loved the fibre art exhibit, great idea.
Enjoy your blog, and keep writing!
I attended Arkansas Fiber Arts Extravaganza in December and am looking forward to attending again this year! Love a good fiber fest!
ReplyDeleteI too found your booth at Twist and brought home a smidgeon of qiviut. So exciting to come across such beautiful stuff!
ReplyDeleteJanuary Spin-in in Destin, DL is a diner gathering I have attended for the last two years, and I hope the next 20 years! That is where I won an ounce of Qiviut that I have not spun yet. I sure would like to have some more to go with it!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your participation at Fibre Twist, very hot in more ways than one, I was at the show participating in the demos and enjoyed your booth. Hope to see you there next year.
