Oh, the soft ... the soft! The sheen is beautiful too, and the drape, but it all comes down to soft for me.
ReplyDeleteWhat's NOT to love??
ReplyDeleteI love that it provides exceptional warmth with so little weight.
ReplyDeleteoh! i love everything about it. love how soft it is and i really love the natural color. and now having had the good luck to have met a musk ox in person, i love how amazing and majestic these animals are. and the babies are quite cute!
ReplyDeletei'm looking forward to the pattern!
It really looks glamorous in a subtle way, it has a certain glowing texture. At least it does in this picture. I would LOVE to knit a sparkling shawl or cowl with this!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend, all. And happy knitting of course, Fleur (Fleurtje-Eliza on Ravelry)
I have never tried it but itching to do so! It looks lovely to knit with!

Before I knew anything about undercoats and how the Northern Peoples used the Qiviut for warm garments, I loved the little Musk Oxen. I Adore them, Musk Oxen, for their toughness to survive such brutal weather, and for the way they defended their herd against predators. What's not to Adore?
ReplyDeleteThank you for giving me the chance to have some of their lovely wool to spin or knit with. It's beautiful stuff you make with fibers from the coats of one of the most fascinating creatures to have walked the Earth.
I love the softness and the warmth it provides. It's like wearing a warm cloud when I wear my scarf.
ReplyDeleteQiviut yarns are so much softer and lighter by weight than wool. Most people can wear the lovingly knitted clothing items because it's hypoallergenic, and most of all Qiviut is a naturally grown fibre and very durable.
ReplyDeleteOMG lovely!!
ReplyDeleteI love Qiviut for it's exquisite softness and the etheral halo in my knit items.
I ADORE how nicely the yarn knits up and how soft the finished item is. It is a really fun and interesting fiber because it is uncommon and luxurious.
ReplyDeleteI agree with ~Momma Of Many Blessings~ "it's like wearing a warm cloud". Its so incredible soft and warm. It is the Diamond of all yarn. It's a joy to work with. When seeing it on others you appreciate and admire all the work that went into making the yarn and item. Just love it.
ReplyDeleteI've never had the opportunity to knit or spin this wonderful stuff, so I would love the chance to try it!
ReplyDeleteI would adore to be able to knit qivuit and experience the delight that others have. I have never met a musk oxen but they look such timeless, gracious animals.
ReplyDeleteIf I was so blessed to win I would share the treasures with several other Kiwi knitters.
Such a generous supply of goodies. Just right for knitting in the winter months.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for offering this bundle of fabulous yarn.
I think what I love most about Qiviut is the warmth :) And muskoxen are such fascinating creatures too!
ReplyDeleteYou are too generous! Now I can dream about it for the all month! I love the softness and the beautiful lustre of Qiviut. Have a Happy Thanksgiving Holiday with your loved ones.
ReplyDeleteI have not been fortunate enough to knit with your yarn but was able to see some in person recently. Oh how soft!!! It would be such a pleasure to try. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI love the natural colors, the incredible warmth, and the amazing softness.
ReplyDeleteI love that it exists: that someone could think of harvesting and working it is for me some kind of a magic event. Being so soft and warm, imagine what lost ot would be not to have it!
ReplyDeleteIt;s like wrapping yourself into one of those fluffy clouds over a tropical island :D the softee warmness is so scrumptous!
ReplyDeleteI love the natural colour and softness.
ReplyDeleteAdore, love, lust, lavish, yearn, desire and many more - perhaps, though, one of the least thought of claims would be that I recently won a game of SCRABBLE with " Qiviut" at the same time as knitting a gorgeous black Qivuit black beret!
ReplyDeleteI adore the look of wonder, love and surprise on my friends' faces when I gift them with a hand knit qiviut treasure :)
ReplyDeleteI was recently able to feel my first ball of qiviut yarn (sadly not actually MY yarn) and loved its incredible softness and light weight warmth. Would love to make something for my #1 son who is living in Calgary - a lot colder than his usual home on Vancouver Island!
ReplyDeleteSoft! And doesnt cause itching like wool does for my friend :) I"m always on the lookout for things she can touch.
ReplyDeleteI Love cashmere and finally got to try Qiviut, I am hooked, it is so light and soft.
ReplyDeleteWe do not have a LYS where I live, so I drive two hours to get to the closest one available. If I knew they had Kiviut, I'd be there now as I've yet to see it or touch it!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful for the opportunity to work with wool as exotic as Qiviut! Oxen have roamed the tundra for tens of thousands of years :-)
what I adore about qivit yarns is the warmth and softness, and that it is a Q word that does not use a 'u'! LOL - and muskoxen are a wonder of adaptation and survival.
ReplyDeleteThe yarn is very light and soft. The pictures on the muskox on a windy day look cute and like my Schnauzer after she rubs her beard on her bed.
ReplyDeleteWow! Just think of all the lovely things I could make out all that wonderful yarn!!! Adorable soft and warm all the accessories crafted. Like getting a hug long distance from a loved one!
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Soooffffttt! (soft and snuggly) :)
ReplyDeleteI ADORE so many things about qiviut - the soft, the warmth, the fact that it's different. It makes me feel special - whether I get to keep my project or give it to a loved one!
ReplyDeleteYour yarn is the best in the world, literally. But it has been watching your business grow over the years that has been most enjoyable. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI want to make something so wonderful for my mother in law that will touch her heart. She recently had surgery and she is lugging around an ugly small blanket because she is cold. She deserves to look like a queen. I have looked for the lightest and warmest and most beautiful yarn. I found it here. Thank you for the lovely products.
ReplyDeleteIt's so soft and such a wonderful little luxury!

I like that it's so light and cushy that it makes me slow down my knitting so I can enjoy every single stitch I make. It's definitely a "meditative" fiber for me, not something to rush through to have a FO. Using qiviut is definitely more like a journey where you enjoy the process vs. finishing the project as quickly as possible.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I have never gotten to work with it, but it looks like it would be so pretty and soft in a finished project.
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with the halo of these yarns! so warm AND soft. I'd love just one of these purdy darlings!
ReplyDeleteGotta love that it's soft, warm, and gathered without ever touching the animal!
ReplyDeleteIt's so soft!
ReplyDeleteI tried to post yesterday, but I don't see my entry, so I'll try again.
ReplyDeleteWould love to try some qiviut. I'm thinking of a lacy cowl. Thanks for offereing your monthly drawings.
It's deliciously soft and fuzzy!
ReplyDeleteWhat I adore about qivuit, is making something for my daughter and knowing that it will keep her warm and safe in the wilderness of the Yukon. The same goes for her partner - he needs to be kept warm too...They need good stuff like qivuit, therefore, I need this giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI have only had a small sample, but I loved the way the yarn felt as I knitted with it.
ReplyDeletewhat do I adore about qiviut?
ReplyDeletethe hypoallergenic, nonpilling nature of the fibre....the luscious feel of it in my hands and on my lap....the warmth in wear...the lightness and blockability for lace knitting...the beauty of the natural shade...even the price at cottage craft angora, so affordable for a luxury yarn!!
mimi cipollone
I love that such a funny-looking animal can produce such gorgeous soft yarn. I have petted qiviut but never crocheted with it and I would love to do so!
ReplyDeleteI love the feel of the qiviut, so soft and light. I love the natural colour.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that your yarn comes from Canada and ships so quickly.
Qiviut is soft, luxurious and wonderful to knit with. I just finished an Antonio hat using 50% qiviut and 50% cashmere - so decadent and warm. The winner of this stash is going to be happy!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get a chance to try the Qiviut yarn out <3 It sounds simply amazing and I am an absolute sucker for soft and warm fibers :D
ReplyDeleteI've not tried them! They look simply beautiful and warm! :D Thank you for the chance! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you what I ADORE about Qiviut or Musk Ox yarn as I have never felt either or worked with them. I sure would love the chance to try them tho. I hear they are wonderfully soft! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, it's the SOFT warmth. Yummy yummy yummy!!
ReplyDeleteI think it's the halo while knitting!
ReplyDeleteWhat's not to love is more like it! The buttery softness, light as air quality, with amazing warmth...YUM!
ReplyDeleteIt just lovely to use, soft and wonderful.!!!
ReplyDeleteSoft and lightweight - ethereal.
ReplyDeleteI'm allergic to wool, so I've looked into other animal fibers to use while knitting. Fortunately for me - and unfortunately for the bank account - luxury yarns fit the bill. Winning this would be like hitting the lottery with the softest, smooshiest impact ever.
ReplyDeleteI love the way it brings out the best of yarns with which it's blended with it's luscious bloom *swoon* :-)
ReplyDeleteSo soft!!!
ReplyDeleteI have never had the pleasure of working with qiviut fiber, but from what I've read about it, it contains magical warming properties and in fact, mostly consists of fairy dust and sweet dreams. I would LOVE a chance to work with what I understand to be the Holy Grail of fibers!
ReplyDeleteAdore the concept of angora/qiviut yarns. while both are soft fibers the animals themselves provide a study in contrast as well.
ReplyDeletelove the texture
ReplyDeleteit's all about the soft.
ReplyDeleteThe softness is the best!
ReplyDeleteIt's Canadian, eh!
ReplyDeleteHow can I tell you what I love about qiviut when - gasp! - I've never knit with it!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors and the softness!

DeleteI love the softness, the color, and the warmth. I cannot even imagine a whole box of this!
ReplyDeleteThe softness and warmth of qiviut is incredible! I'm eager to knit with some.
ReplyDeleteI love the softness and warmth. I love that it doesn't itch, and that anything you make with it is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt is so precious and wonderful to wear!
ReplyDeleteAs with all the comments, just how soft it is. I love that it is just a natural gorgeous yarn.
ReplyDeleteI love how soft the yarn is. Also, the colors are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI adore the idea that this soft, soft yarn comes from such hardy creatures. Love the idea of keeping warm with yarn made from this kind of fiber. Images of musk oxen hunkered down in blizzards come to mind. I've never had the chance to knit with it and would love to give it a go. winterwrens at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteCause it's yummy? lol I wanted to let you know that I received my qiviut/merino blend yarn, thank you soooo much! Its gorgeous. Ok, so what I *really* love about qiviut? Besides the fact that its super-soft, besides the slight sheen, I think I really like the fact that it comes from an animal that has outsmarted Darwin! It's an impressive animal and I love its fiber (and I love picking it too! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you again for the yarn! It's beautiful!
I have never tried it, and would love to!

I Adore Qiviut yarn because is comfortable to wear on a cool day and extraordinarily lightweight and cannot forget it is warm.
ReplyDeleteI would love to try this fiber.
ReplyDeleteThe thing I love about musk oxen is that their coats are probably the most similar to wooly mammoths that still exist. What a crazy thought for something so soft and warm.
ReplyDeleteWhat I love about it is the warmth in my hands! I love your generous giveaways!
ReplyDeletewhere to begin? Soft as a cloud, precious as gold, warmer than just about anything, comes from a beautiful animal, mixes with merino to create an exquisite fibre. Has almost moved me to write poetry on my blog: www.momentsimagined.blogspot.com. Qiviut, qiviut, can't get enufofit!
ReplyDeleteI've not yet gotten the chance to use qiviut -- but it sounds delicious! Not to mention, coming from a family who has problems with wearing wool / alpaca / cashmere etc. fibers, qiviut sounds like a luxurious way to get even more warmth and softness with none of the itchiness and discomfort associated with wools. I would love to use some qiviut to make a scarf for my mother this Christmas!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to have found your site! ~Kelly (Joyrider1978 on Ravelry)
I love how soft this yarn is and how much comes in them. I also love the colors they come in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
