200 grams of mill ends
This month's give away i thought i would include some raw musk ox down for the hand spinners out there !
Its quite easy to de-hair on a small scale. You simply break off a small piece, hold the down firmly & with the other hand try to remove as many dark black guard hairs as possible until your left with just soft fluffy down.
For best results you need plenty of light & work over a white surface such as a sheet of paper...the black hairs show up quite clearly !
The yarns are a selection of 100% qiviut, qiviut & cashmere, qiviut & silk, qiviut-queen-yarn. The Inuit blue skein is qiviut & silk, a 60 odd gram skein i found in my stash.....will never get around to knitting with it so some other knitter may as well have the use of it to make something beautiful & spectacular!
Runs from 12 th November TO 30 th November 2013
open to everyone world wide.
Two winners drawn at random, one winner will receive the yarn & the other will receive the raw musk ox fibre.
I'm getting in the mood for Christmas. I just finished my Christmas shopping on line-i never buy from physical stores anymore, its beautiful to avoid the crowds & shop while enjoying a Huge glass of Red wine !

Simply tell us what Crafty gifts you hope to receive this year from Santa ?
Best of Luck !
What a lovely pic...so cozy looking.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping for something fibre related this Christmas and Qiviut would definitely be my first pic of choice :-)
Knitting books and yarn and......
ReplyDeleteQuivit in any shape or form :))
ReplyDeleteA second set of Knitter's Pride needles and a blending board from Santa would be great. Thanks for a chance for this great give away.
ReplyDeleteI'd love some nice interchangeables, since qiviut is unlikely to happen!
ReplyDeleteWow, I would like so many things. A new cutting mat for my quilting, new needles and some woolen yarn, a qiviut smokering for me . . . the list is endless. :)
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I'm pretty well stocked on needles and notions, my library is approaching overflow, and truth be told, there's a lot of yarn here too. But there's no such thing as enough of your fabulous yarn! Please consider me only for the yarn, not the fiber. I'm just an intermittent spindler, and I'd not want to deprive a real spinner from that pleasure. Thanks for your continuing generosity.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to craft, what would not be excited about getting??? I could always do with a new pattern book for some crochet for home type giftware, and more crochet hooks...you know those with the light at the end I've seen on blogs, but don't seem to be able to locate them where I live! The snow looks great, we should be in summer here, instead I had to light the fire yesterday to take the chill off the house & I've just stoked it up again this morning!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping Santa brings me some yarn to make mittens! And I'd love it if he brought me some snow, too. I'd be happy as a clam if it snowed year round!
ReplyDeleteI only knit and never learned to spin but hope to find some new knitting needle sets made from bamboo or wood to replace the metal ones.
ReplyDeleteI hoe to receive some gift cards to order some yarn and needles. You can never have too much yarn or too many needles. I have not learn to spin as yet but would love to win the yarn as I have never been lucky enough to have such great yarn as this.

Qivuit yarn, some new needles and blocking wires would be lovely as Christmas Gifts this year
ReplyDeleteAnything craft related is always very nice to receive. And my husband knows it - so he is busy making me a surprise!! The only hint I got - it will make easier to go through the box of alpaca and silk that I am carding together with musk ox fiber. So I am very excited and eager to see what it will be - I love surprises!
ReplyDeleteI want a gift certificate so I can pick out some yummy extravagant yarn I wouldn't ordinarily indulge in.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping Santa brings me Signature needles to knit up some beautiful Kiviut yarn!
ReplyDeleteMore yarns/threads/buttons/needles in all sizes and of course some crochet books.

It would be really nice if Santa would bring a ball winder.
ReplyDeleteOn my list are craft supplies for charities that help kids learn compassion and empathy. But if I were to want a gift for myself, it would be quiviut-silk. Quiviut by itself is amazing but add some silk to it and it is the most beautiful fiber in the world.
ReplyDeleteMy family always asks for ideas and for a list. I think this year, I'll just make a list of fabulous yarn and fiber sites I like (yours included!). It may not seem like much to a non-knitter/spinner, but some of your lovely luxury fiber/yarn to play with would be amazing!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I'd like a ball winder, too. :) But mostly qiviut.
I think this year I would like a weaving loom
ReplyDeleteQiviut and warm yarns to make lovely mitts for myself :-)
ReplyDeleteA great gift to myself would be to finish my qiviut mitts in time for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI would love to get some bamboo knitting needles...or some of the lighted ones so I can knit in the car when it's dark (when I'm not driving, of course!)
ReplyDeleteHow lucky you are to get snow. I'm envious :). Gift certificates from my favorite yarn shops are my most treasured gift. Sure wish you had gift certificates ....
ReplyDeleteI would love to get yarn: that would be a big surprise as no one has ever offered me anything related to knitting. Wonder why?
ReplyDeleteSanta Baby, I been a really good girl and want the finest yarn in the world!
ReplyDeleteI just discovered Qiviut this summer on our vacation in the Canadian Rockies and I'm in love - it has inspired me to start knitting again - my wish list - more qiviut yarn I bought 4 skeins this summer and I'm just about finished with my 3rd project - need more!! Needles and patterns are always welcome.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping for yarn to make a sweater for myself.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping for some yarn, and I would love a pair of finger less mitts.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have Santa bring me some quiviut!
ReplyDeleteI would love a set of Hiya Hiya Sharps and a jacket's worth of hard-wearing wool :)
ReplyDeleteOh, wouldn't I love a spinning wheel! But more realistically, I'd like a yarn swift and a ball winder. Thanks for the chance :-)
ReplyDeleteEverything yarn related is fantastic. For Christmas I wish to have more time to devote to knitting and I would really like to finish all my projects.

ReplyDeleteI had to pop over here when I saw there is FIBER! Im a spinner and musk ox is one Ive never had on my wheel. Id LOOOOOOOVE to try it!
ReplyDeleteFrom Santa, I'm hoping for a SQ from a local dyer, Kismet Fiberworks. They're a new, local indie dyer and I want to help them get their business up and rolling.
This year I'm hoping for some gift certificates to my favourite local yarn store, or possibly a small weaving loom to learn on. Or maybe some Signature Stiletto needles.
ReplyDeleteMy Wee Peggy Spinning Wheel would love to try some qivuit
ReplyDeleteSo... I found this while looking for a Canadian online supplier of qiviut for my Christmas list. Lucky me! :)
ReplyDeletePlease could I win some yarn!!! Keeping fingers crossed. X
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping for a small needle gauge to put on my key ring. Maybe I can find it when it's needed.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo! Snow in the morning is a good sight.
ReplyDeleteFor this holiday season, I'm hoping to have a bit more time to get back into spinning. For me, I'm more interested in what items I make that I can gift to others. On the list: mittens, sweaters, hats :)

DeleteWould love to have the qiviut yarn. So warm and soft. Tonight the low is 5 here in WI, could really use something snuggly!
ReplyDeleteFor the holidays I would like fluffy yarn and bamboo needles for my present.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping to get a gift certificate so I can get the circular needles I seem to not have when I need them
ReplyDeleteI hope Santa brings family, hot chocolate shared with the grand kids, smiles that will last the year, health that is so often overlooked, and kindness that works is way around the community with every breath and act we take. There really is not much more in life that means so much.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping that Santa supplies some yarn to knit mittens for next year's mitten tree - I have 12 pair for the tree this year :)

ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to have a great time at our annual Craft Fest - aka Boxing day.. the girls get together and try something new! This year my oldest daughter (34) has bought something for us all to try - great way to pass on skills to the next gen.
ReplyDeletehome knitted socks .. i wear them all winter ..
