  1. I would knit 3 pair for students here at the community college where I work - students who were previously incarcerated, served their time, and are now earning degrees.

The 4th pair would be for me!

  2. hmmm... I'd probably knit something for a friend who just underwent surgery for thyroid cancer. Maybe something for a friend who's recently got out of a bad relationship.

    And a bit for me

  3. I would knit socks for my husband. After knitting a pair for him for our wedding, which he wore all winter, he's really developed an appreciation for handknit socks and I'd love to give him more pairs.

  4. Beautiful socks for the family, including booties for the new baby!

  5. Hm, I would prob. knit socks for my husband, as his feet are often cold. He has to promise to keep his toenails trimmed though, as he keeps wearing through commercial dress socks!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Since I'm only just now working on my first sock, I would knit them for myself--in case they came out badly!

    ReplyDelete
  7. First pair would be for a friend who recently became a widow (his wife was an avid knitter), second for my hard working husband, third for my daughter, and third for me :).

  8. Little Clara, my first granddaughter!

  9. I would make some socks for my wife and children (all 4 of them since 2 are under 4). It would be a nice surprise for her since she has knit socks for all of us. :)

  10. Some for me, some for my mother! I've only ever knit them for myself before (haven't made that many), but I'd love to give her some luxury.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Selfishly I would knit them all for me. I would feel no guilt as I sat all snuggly in my lucious socks.

  12. Both Mom and I have feet that eat socks whole! Unless they were only used as bedsocks, I could never subject this wonderful fiber to that kind of punishment. Better I stay with hats and scarves.

  13. I have three granddaughters ages 5, 7 and 10. They all want to learn to knit and I would love to teach them to make their first pair of socks!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I have 5 daughters & 5 grand daughters who would love to have some nice warm socks for our upcoming winter

  15. Asking who I would like to knit socks for is like asking who in my ideal or imaginary world I'd like at my ultimate dinner table! So I'd love to knit a nice warm, shaded fine pair for the famous naturalist David Attenborough - I think he would not only apprecaite them but wear them as well. The second pair would have to be for Nelson Mandela - he is quite old now and I suspect in all his worthy and astounding life few if any have ever given him a pair of glary snazzy and wild socks. The thrid pair for my great pal, Nyima. A wonderful Tibetan woman living in Sikkim - Nyima knits and teaches other women to knit, providing them with a place to gather and talk and feel useful. For Nyima they would have to be very fine qiviut socks in a lovely shade of purple I think - it gets so very cold in the shadow of the Himalaya. The fourth pair for my daughter - I know she already has lots of hand knitted things including socks, and she is more thanold enough to knit her own, but still I love knitting for her - I think it sort of annoys her in a loving way - it will continue to spoil her as well! That's four pairs. Such a nice thought to have had! Cheers from Cookie in Australia

  16. I'd knit a couple of pairs of socks for my wee Grandson, a pair for myself ( special treat) and some for Pine Ridge charity.

  17. My daughter-in-law & me. We love warm feet.

  18. I'd knit socks for my SIL in Nome who is often out at night repairing heaters; a pair for my DD in Nome who is still cold there after many years; and a hat for my SILs mother, also in Nome, who is ready to start chemo for breast cancer and could use something soft and warm for her head and heart.

  19. I'd knit socks for my aunt Molly! She's the knitter in the family, but 5 years ago she was paralysed after an illness and can no longer knit. She's definitely in need of some new, handmade Qiviut socks to keep her going!

    ReplyDelete
  20. For my grandma, who misses her nightly foot-rubs now that my grandpa has passed. And the mice got her qiviut smoke-ring, and I'm at a loss as to how to repair it. So I'm sure she would love them.

  21. I would knit a pair for myself and the others would go in the form of baby booties to the local hospital.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I would make the socks for my Mom, husband, niece, and my mother-in-law whom lives in very cold country.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I would knit socks for my Mom who has cold, cold feet even though she lives in New Mexico and for my 1st grandbaby coming soon! And then a pair for my daughter and if there's enough left over for me--we could be 4 generations of matching socks!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I live in Winnipeg where the winters can get really cold. There's a school around the corner from me and it's in the poorest postal code in Canada. The kids at the school have emigrated from all around the world and not all of them can afford new mitts or warm socks and you know how easy it is for kids to lose their mittens if they don't have strings attached. I think maybe I'd make new mitts for the school lost and found so the next time a child loses their mitts...

    ReplyDelete
  25. I would knit a pair for my mom and some baby socks for my two co-workers that are currently pregnant.

    ReplyDelete
  26. With lots of love I would knit them for my husband.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I have never been able to afford that kind of yarn, it must be wonderful to knit with....if I win, I will knit them for my mom, dad and two sisters.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I would knit socks for me because, sadly, no one else I know would take the time to care for them properly...hand wash! Baby socks are a lovely idea, but, similarly, no new parent I know has the time to hand wash anything!

  29. Definitely for me and for my boyfriend to wear when we're snowmobiling. Extra warmth is a wonderful thing. And I'd make some fingerless mittens for my mom and my daughter who both have cold hands. If there was enough left, I'd make a cowl for my sister. She lives on the high plains of Colorado and can use something to keep her warm while she's out taking care of her horses.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I have been knitting socks for my aunt because she's the most knit-worthy person I know, so definitely a pair for her and maybe a pair for me too because why not!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I have never even touched yarn from any of those animals so i would be so happy to get a chance! I would knit socks for my children, all 3 of them because they are always so happy with anything I make for them and so proud and you can tell they really appreciate it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I would knit socks for an elderly neighbour whose feet are always cold, A pair for a good pal who is a non knitter but loves hand knitted socks, and a pair for my daughter. Lastly a pair for myself. Cecilia

    ReplyDelete
  33. I would knit a couple pairs for my husband, and the rest would go to our local shelter.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I have a friend who has never received handknit socks. Imagine what four pairs of this loveliness would do to cheer her!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Unfortunately I haven't mastered socks yet! But have been trying for a couple of years and I am getting better. My daughter keeps asking and I do keep trying our floors are still cold even now. So I would give her first pair. Second I would give to a very nice lady whom I did repair several pair of old knitted socks for last year and she paid me way too much. Third for my friend and landlord he is very nice to me and my daughter. Then selfishly and lastely myself becuase if I make all of them a pair I would think I should have one also.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'd make socks for my daughters!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'd make my sister some socks...she deserves them!

    ReplyDelete
  38. If I was to knit socks with this, they would be for me - aside from other knitters, I'm the only one I know who's willing to hand wash socks. However, I think this would be excellent yarn for mittens or gloves and if I won I'd likely knit some for my mom.

  40. I'd actually like to knit some socks for my mom. She lives in Colorado, and could definitely use more snuggly socks during the winter. She's very appreciative of the knits I make for her, and I'd really like to add a pair of socks to her small hand knits collection. :)

  41. I'd knit them for my grandma Rogers, my grandmother in law I guess! She has arthritis so she's had to give up knitting, and recently gave me all her and her sister's knitting patterns. She feels the cold very easily, I think she'd love something in this amazing yarn. She'd never even felt cashmere until last year when I made her a scarf - it would be amazing to show her something new and wonderful again.

  73. I would knit socks for lots of friends of whom most are knitters themselves, but that would mean they would probably appreciate it. Because it won't be ordinary socks like plain stockinette stitch or with a ribbed cuff. Nope, my socks are always special. Since I am an addicted sock knitter, there has to be a challenge in every new pair!
